EXCURSIONS in ANDALUCIA. By Coach and Train.
ANTEQUERA. THE SPANISH LAKES and EL CHORRO GORGE.
This spectacular and very scenic day out begins with a lovely drive to Antequera where you stop for approximately two hours to explore this Moorish town. Then slowly and gently the driver will take you through the unbelievable terrain of the Spanish Lake District. You will take an extended stop for lunch to enjoy the views across the lakes, and the peace and beauty of the National Park of Ardales. Your afternoon starts with stunning views of El Chorro Gorge. Then passing through Sun Valley and over the mountain to Marbella. Words cannot describe this splendid day out so come and see for yourself.
FUENGIROLA & MIJAS.
A morning visit to Fuengirola to enjoy this popular seaside town, and the famous Tuesday market one of the largest on the coast, or, you may prefer to take a stroll along the promenade. Then it’s on to the delightful mountain village of Mijas, probably the most famous of the Andalucian White Villages. Time to perhaps take a donkey taxi around this beautiful Andalucian Pueblo.
SEVILLA.
A delightful 2 1/2 hour journey takes you through the mountains past Ronda to this most beautiful City with all its ancient splendor and grand old buildings. On arrival in Sevilla your coach will take you on a short tour of the centre and you will park at the Tower of Gold. It is only a few minutes walk to La Giralda, the symbol of Sevilla, and the Cathedral which is the third largest in the world. You have approximately five hours to explore the city and perhaps take a cruise on the river or a horse drawn carriage? Before starting your homeward journey you will visit the majestic La Plaza de España.
GRANADA. inc. the ALAHAMBRA PALACE.
Your 2 1/2 hour journey to this most elegant of Andalucian cities takes you towards Malaga then inland to the Sierra Navada mountains. You arrive in Granada having 3 hours to visit the Cathedral and to explore the Moroccan shops etc. Your coach will then take you to the Alahambra Palace which is the most Mediaeval Arab Monument now surviving. Your 2 hour official guided tour includes a visit to this amazing fortress, it’s contents have to be seen to be believed. you will then be taken to the beautiful Generalife gardens, before rejoining the coach for your homeward journey.
RONDA by TRAIN.
By coach to Algeciras to catch the mountain train to Ronda. you travel for 2 hours on a single track line, designed by a British Engineer 102 years ago. the Spectacular mountain scenery is impossible to be seen by road. There are many little villages en route, with their delightful Victorian stations. The views as you climb through the mountains are truly stunning, an ever changing landscape of lakes, waterfalls, and cork forests. When you arrive at Ronda, a walk through the shopping centre will take you to the 18th century bridge over the famous Gorge. For 3 hours you are free to explore this old Moorish town before rejoining the coach to enjoy the wonderful scenery through the mountains back to the coast.
